Video Nasties Vol. 1 Digital Comics

Sunday, May 13th, 2012

I’ve put together a digital collection of the first four issues of Video Nasties, which is now available from my store in either CBR or PDF formats.

I’ll put together a volume 2 if this experiment ends up working out.

A few reviews with kind words have appeared during the first few months of Video Nasties being available, so I decided to try and show them off. The image is simply a blown up and coloured panel from issue 6.

I’ve lowered the price to £7.00, too, so for the time being you can grab the whole thing for a measly £9.99 at Lulu.com. Go on.

VerityFair

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

Evan got his first (to my knowledge) cameo recently in the third issue of Terry Wiley’s fantastic VerityFair. I’d drawn Verity as a fellow passenger of Evan’s in the final issue of Video Nasties, so it was satisfying that the thread of cameos on public transport continued. There are another couple of cameos in that panel of mine; but the characters are so off-model, I’d be embarrassed to admit them. I’ll do a better job next time, guys.

It was brilliant seeing Terry’s take on Evan, as he’s been a big name in British indie comics for years. I always remember seeing his name and work in the review section of Comics World (or Comics Zone or whatever it changed it’s name to) in the mid nineties, which was always inspiring me to try comics myself. His Tales from Sleaze Castle series is a great read and from what I gather, will be released in a digital format soon. Get on it.

Video Nasties finally available!

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

After sitting in gestation for a while, the complete Video Nasties is now available from Lulu! Money’s too tight at the moment for a self published print run (it’s quite a fat book), so print on demand seems like the ideal option.

Originally the collection was set to be published by Blank Slate, but as the story progressed, there was a concern that it might not fit within their stable due to it’s tone. When I completed it, there was talk of just going ahead and printing it anyway, but because of the slight uncertainty that was there I opted to try and work on something else to replace it. Which is where I’m at now.

So you can buy your physical copy for £10 (plus p&p) or Ebook for £5 right here. Whenever possible, I’ll tweet Lulu discount codes that’ll get you money off. They’re a pretty regular thing.

Missing Persons Appeal

Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

I’ve changed the opening scene of VN7,  so this appeal by the missing student’s parents won’t be appearing. I liked it, though, so to keep it from disappearing altogether I’ve uploaded it here.

Video Nasties 1

I’m aware the photos in the store give very little away and aren’t really going to entice anyone into picking the book up, so here’s a free, small, jpeggy pdf e-book version of the first issue to download.

Missing

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

Going to get some of these photocopied for the London show at the weekend. I have from now until then to work out whether handing out fake ‘Missing’ posters is in bad taste or not.

Gwen and Victor

Sunday, March 6th, 2011

I thought the stand-ups Courtney engineered for me for last year’s Thought Bubble were so good I’m bugging her to do a couple more for me. I feel like a Victor and a Gwen would close off the central set, so here they are. They’ll be on my table at the Small Press Expo next weekend at Goldsmiths College London, where I’ll be sharing a spot with UK indie comics celeb Marc Ellerby. I’ll probably post more throughout the week about it.
